The NMHIA is an alliance of independent health insurers who have agreed to offer a full range of health plans to companies with 50 or less eligible employees and qualifying individuals. Our goal is to fulfill a need for those who are unable to qualify for commercial health insurance and to provide easier requirements for small employers and individuals to make insurance more accessible.

History

The Alliance was created in 1994 by the State Legislature to provide increased access to health insurance for small businesses, self-employed and qualified individuals. We are an alliance of independent health insurers who have agreed to offer similar health plans to companies with 50 or less eligible employees. We provide a solution to those who are unable to qualify for commercial health insurance by offering easier requirements for small employers and individuals.

Our vision is to improve New Mexicans’ quality of life by providing access to a wide choice of quality health insurance products. With 4 health insurance carriers to choose from, we can provide a great solution that caters to your specific needs.
